  • You’ve seen a doctor, but nothing has improved

  • You feel rushed or unheard during appointments

  • You were told to rest, but the pain keeps coming back

  • You’ve done stretching and strengthening, but are still in pain

You’re not alone — we hear this every day.

Does this sound like you?

If your X-ray came back “normal” but you’re still in pain — we can help.

We fix the cause of your pain — not just the symptoms

Most treatments focus on where it hurts. I focus on why it hurts.

Pain is often the result of something else not working as it should — forcing certain areas of your body to take on more load than they’re designed for. Over time, this leads to irritation, inflammation, and ongoing discomfort.

This is where my approach is different.

I start by listening to your story, understanding how your pain appears in real movement — walking, bending, going up or down stairs — not just on a treatment table.

From there, I identify what your body is missing and where unnecessary stress is being created.

Then we address that. Not by chasing symptoms, but by restoring balance across your whole body.

  • Knee pain? The solution may lie in your hips, ankles, or feet

  • Back pain? It’s often linked to hip function or breathing patterns

  • Chronic tightness? Usually, compensation, not the root cause

When the load is properly redistributed, pain often settles naturally. But we don’t stop there.

You’ll learn how to move in a way that feels lighter, stronger, and more natural — in everyday actions like walking, bending, and even breathing. Because over time, your body adapts to moving with pain — and becomes very good at it. Now it’s time to retrain your body to move without it.

You’ll also leave with a clear, personalised plan to help you maintain and build on your results long after your session.

Meet the founder -

Yuji Kitano

Bridging the gap between world-class care and the expat community in Japan.

After working as a physiotherapist in both New Zealand and Japan, I began to notice something beyond physical pain.

Many foreigners in Japan weren’t just struggling with injuries; they were also struggling to be understood. Language barriers, unclear systems, and rushed appointments often made getting care stressful and overwhelming.

That experience stayed with me.

Yokohama Physio was created so expats and international families could receive care in a place where they feel heard, safe, and supported — without having to explain themselves twice.
